To expose the leech-like relatives and the biased mother-in-law, the whole family puts on a big show of being poor: squeezing a broken sofa, eating instant noodles, using old appliances, with parents pretending to be sick and the child acting pitiful, deliberately showing flaws to lure the relatives to ask for benefits and sow discord. Hypocritical relatives immediately reveal their greedy and mean true colors. The biased mother-in-law finally sees their true faces, gets cured of her bias via the family's fake misery scheme and firmly stands on the daughter-in-law's side.
