The Lin Clan was massacred by the powerful prime minister for hiding the late emperor's edict, leaving only the youngest daughter Lin Shuangyue adopted by a peasant family. Fifteen years later, trained in strategy by the clan's hidden elders and secretly supported by her clansmen, Shuangyue enters the imperial academy as a criminal's daughter, confronts权贵 (powerful officials), and investigates the truth of her family's extermination. Along the way, she and Xiao Jingyan, a general from a humble background, go from mutual hostility to deep affection—Xiao takes a fatal sword for her, and she clears his name of treason. When Shuangyue finally overthrows the prime minister and helps the new emperor ascend the throne, she rescues the Lin Clan from guilt with her "meritorious service in protecting the country" and personally presents each clansman with a purple robe embroidered with silver patterns. The phrase "All my clan lifted me to great heights, I gave them purple robes of honor" becomes the warmest legend of the Great Zhao Dynasty.
