Amid the flames of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the orphan Sanmao finds a broken bowl inscribed with "The Wandering Immortal Code" in the ruins, accidentally binding to a "Cultivation Wandering System"—he must earn merit by helping refugees to unlock life-saving skills like "snatching steamed buns from thin air" and "bulletproof talismans". But the system is always glitchy: helping Granny find her chicken attracts enemy military dogs; stealing candy for a starving girl triggers a "Sweet Romance Task"—a fake wedding with a warlord's young master! While evading Japanese air raids and outsmarting the faulty system, Sanmao gathers homeless kids into a "Flame Little Family" with his "clumsy ideas", even softening the warlord's adjutant who once wanted to arrest him—turns out the most powerful "immortal technique" is the sincerity of handing half a sesame cake with a smile amid the rubble.
