Young man Mo Chen returns to his hometown with his late grandfather's handwritten manuscript *Corpse Whispers*, a book recording the secrets of Xiangxi's corpse-driving and funeral rites. Soon, bizarre deaths plague the village: three locals die suddenly, their deaths matching the gruesome fates described in the manuscript exactly. As Mo digs deeper, he realizes his grandfather's death was no accident. Former associates of a tomb-raiding gang from a decade ago are being killed one by one, and a decade-long revenge plot unfolds behind the manuscript, with a mysterious corpse guardian lurking in the shadows fixated on him.
