Lin Xiaohu, heir to a bandit clan that robs the rich to help the poor, faces a crisis when his father is framed for 'colluding with enemies' and imprisoned. To clear his father's name, Xiaohu hides his identity and goes to the capital for the imperial examination. On his first day, he accidentally offends Su Wanning, the only daughter of Examiner Su—an talented young woman who hates dandies and mistakes Xiaohu for a rich playboy trying to cheat the exam, so she keeps making things difficult for him. Xiaohu has to deal with Su Wanning's 'troubles', use his bandit lightness kung fu to sneak into the library for clues, and prevent his identity from being exposed. When Su Wanning finds out his true identity and the examiners try to disqualify him, can Xiaohu hold onto his original intention of saving his father, and can he resolve the misunderstanding with Su Wanning?
