Midnight Last Bus

Lin Xiaoman, recently unemployed and fresh from a breakup, accidentally catches the last suburban bus at midnight. The passengers on board all seem odd — a woman in a wedding dress clutches a crumpled bridesmaid invitation, a bespectacled programmer repeatedly refreshes an unsent message to his first love, and an old lady with a vegetable basket keeps staring at the silver bracelet on her wrist that she’s worn for a decade. As the bus veers further off course, passing her childhood alley, the passengers suddenly turn to her in unison: “Xiaoman, you’re finally here.” It turns out this “last bus” carries all the unspoken regrets of her life: the runaway best friend who wants to say “I’ve been waiting for you to be my bridesmaid,” the missed first love who wants to hand over the love letter he never dared to send, and her late grandmother who wants to touch her silver bracelet one more time. Those wounds she hid in the dark are waiting to say a proper “goodbye.”
