In a misty Jiangnan town, opera diva Shen Yanzhi sings nightly for blind zither player Gu Yu across the river. When a storm steals her voice just as Gu Yu secures a palace performance that may restore his sight, Yanzhi tears up her prescription. Silently, she strings copper bells on a ferry boat with red silk. As Gu Yu traces braille-embroidered costumes, he discovers the truth: the decade of serenades came from a woman born mute. The chimes echoing over the river become her final love letter, composed in silence.
