Su Wan, an antique restorer, clings to the faint cinnabar mole on her wrist—a memento from the “moonlight boy” who saved her as a child. The boy drew the mole with cinnabar ink and promised, “This way I can find you.” A decade later, Lin Shiyan, an astrophotographer, arrives with an old pocket watch engraved “Moonlight for Cinnabar,” inside which lies his childhood drawing of a girl with a cinnabar mole—Su Wan.
