In a state-owned textile factory in the 1980s, female worker Lin Xiulian is accused of stealing export fabric and facing re-education through labor. A small scrap in her hand becomes the only clue—it’s the torn hem from the real culprit she grabbed before being framed. Technical master Zhao Jianguo, who has long been biased against her, initially stands by indifferently, but noticing the special embroidery on the scrap, he finds it linked to recent factory thefts. To clear her name, Zhao risks pressure to track clues, finally exposes the truth at the whole factory meeting, and the two develop feelings amid the turmoil.
