When a blizzard cuts off the mountain, a remote village is isolated from the outside world, and stranded passersby and villagers run out of supplies, making everyone panic. The unassuming protagonist, a stranded wanderer, uses only a few boxes of discarded "rotten grains" (actually shelf-stable dehydrated emergency foods) to feed everyone through creative cooking and careful budgeting. He calms the anxious crowd and is unexpectedly elected as the temporary village headman. Facing the harsh test of the snowstorm and resolving various suspicions from others, he finally leads everyone to survive the blizzard and gains unexpected bonds and recognition.
