Fresh graduate Zhang Man was lured to a Northern Myanmar fraud camp under the guise of a well-paying job, where she was forced to run scams and endured daily physical and mental torture. When fellow captive Wei Xingyi, a former jade appraiser, spotted Zhang’s innate talent for identifying jade, the two teamed up. They exploited the camp’s secret cross-border jade trade, using Zhang’s expertise to appraise high-value rough stones. They traded the stones for food and inside intel, won over other oppressed prisoners, and built a network of informants. Finally, they launched a daring counterattack during a major jade delivery, breaking free with their fellow captives and reclaiming their freedom.
