Xie Jing, angry with her mother, plans to spend New Year's Eve alone in the old house. Late at night, however, a soaking wet stranger, Liu Jiaqi, bursts in—claiming to be the "daughter of an old friend" of her mother and clutching a yellowed old diary. As Liu Jiaqi stays, Xie Jing uncovers a secret her mother has hidden for 20 years: Liu Jiaqi is actually her mother's biological daughter, given away due to poverty back then! Between the suddenly appearing "sister" and her mother's unspoken guilt, the two girls go from clashing to warming each other. Finally, amid the New Year's Eve fireworks, they wait for their mother's confession and their "complete reunion."
