Uncle Li, a persimmon farmer in a mountain village, tears up the acquisition contract publicly in a fit of pique after failing to reach an agreement with the purchaser, vowing never to sell his persimmons to the other party. Unbeknownst to him, the meteorological station has issued cold wave warnings for three consecutive days. Three days later, thousands of acres of persimmons are all frozen into hard lumps, leaving him penniless and liable for liquidated damages. Uncle Li regrets deeply but can no longer undo the tragedy caused by his moment of anger.
