Li Mo, a modern office worker, stayed up late reading Tang Dynasty history and woke up as a newly appointed constable in Chang'an County. On his first day, he arrested a 'suspicious' woman in fine clothing—unbeknownst to him, this was Empress Zhangsun, who was incognito investigating corruption! To prove his innocence, Li Mo is forced to assist the Empress in solving cases: he uses modern criminal investigation techniques to crack long-unsolved cases, but accidentally gets the Empress trapped in a thieves' den. The Empress initially plans to punish him for 'offending a superior,' but gradually becomes impressed by his straightforwardness and wit. With the Empress's identity at risk of exposure and corrupt officials setting deadly traps, can Li Mo survive the crisis of 'arresting the Empress on day one'?
