Bai Xueru is trapped in a time loop on the seventh day of her boyfriend's disappearance—every morning, she relives the same details: his text saying "Wait for me on the seventh day", the orange cat at the alley, the warm soy milk from the convenience store aunt. Until Wang Huizhu, a mysterious neighbor, appears. She can predict the loop's details accurately and keeps saying with a complicated look, "You need to wake up." When Bai finds her boyfriend's death certificate—he died in a car accident saving her three days before the seventh day—she shocks to realize Wang Huizhu is herself from ten years later: the past her couldn't accept the reality and was trapped in the "seventh day" loop for a decade. This time, she's back to pull her former self out of the cage named "expectation."
