Lin Hu, a “tough guy” from Northeast China who returned home to start a business, wanted to turn the village's old ancestral hall into a boutique homestay—only to be stopped at the door by Su Xiao, the “spicy girl” guarding the hall. This village beauty with a ponytail and a broom had a tongue sharper than chili: “Demolish the hall? Only if I move to your house as your ancestor!” From “enemies” fighting over keys and blocking doors, they became “buddies” who secretly covered for each other: Lin Hu helped Su Xiao fend off matchmakers, and Su Xiao taught Lin Hu to make “homestay specialty dishes” with wild vegetables. On the opening day of the homestay that integrated the ancestral hall's elements, Lin Hu held a tanghulu and shouted with a red face: “Spicy girl, from now on you guard the hall, and I’ll be under your control—okay?”
