Lin Ye, a genius from a hidden sword sect (played by Zhang Shixi), descends the mountain for a trial as ordered by his master. Upon entering the city, he stumbles upon Su Wan (played by Jin Shan), a wealthy heiress, being chased by enemies. He saves her but gets involved in the conflict between the Su family and a business tycoon—who not only wants to take over the Su's assets but also hides a shadow practicing dark arts. On one hand, there's Su Wan's family crisis; on the other, the sect's rule of "not revealing cultivation". Lin Ye has to resolve problems as an "ordinary person": fixing Su Wan's broken car with object control, seeing through the opponent's scheme with qi-reading, and saving Su Wan's critically ill grandfather with a Peiyuan Pill... But when dark cultivators approach, Lin Ye realizes this "trial" is more than it seems—his real reason for descending the mountain is linked to his parents' disappearance ten years ago?
