Li Xiuwen, a down-and-out prince, hides in the countryside selling noodles to survive. One day, he finds a cute little girl named A Zhao—who turns out to be the reincarnation of a Pi Xiu: broken silver becomes gold when she touches it, and if she says “Daddy wants braised pork,” a hunter brings meat right away. A Zhao hugs him and shouts, “Daddy will be emperor!” Li Xiuwen, who only wanted to eat, suddenly gets involved in the fight for the throne: the prime minister wants to kidnap A Zhao as a “money-making tool,” the crown prince sends assassins to kill him, and the imperial concubine who harmed him years ago also comes to steal the child. But A Zhao defends him: “Whoever bullies Daddy, I’ll turn their purse into stone!” On one side, A Zhao’s “magic help”—his noodle stall is full of customers, a general offers to train his army; on the other, the increasingly dangerous battle for the throne—assassins break in at night, imperial edicts force A Zhao into the palace. Li Xiuwen realizes: he isn’t raising his daughter—she’s here to help him become emperor and heal the wounds of losing everything years ago.
