Wen Qi, a modern office worker, and Yu Cen, a cold designer, are best friends who complain about marriage pressure. After a drunk night, they wake up in the 1970s rural Li family—Wen Qi becomes Zhou Xiaotang, the childhood fiancée of the second son Li Jianguo (who hid the betrothal gift to escape marriage), while Yu Cen becomes Su Wan, the educated youth fiancée of the eldest son Li Jianjun (who is trying to break off the engagement to return to the city). Being best friends turned sisters-in-law is chaotic enough, but it gets worse: Jianguo has the face of Wen Qi's unrequited crush from modern times, and Jianjun looks exactly like Yu Cen's scumbag ex-boyfriend! Forced to clean up the original owners' mess, they help each other lie to their mother-in-law and uncover the secret of their time travel—an old diary in the old house seems to hold往事 even the Li family doesn't know…
