In a small town in 1998, Lin Man runs a tiny mending shop with her mother. After her father’s debts bring a creditor’s deadline and her mother falls ill from anxiety, the young girl swears she will never give up. She works from dawn to midnight, facing rival shops’ squeeze and neighbors’ doubts. By chance, her self-drawn delicate embroidery patterns catch a regular customer’s husband (local garment factory owner) attention, earning a bulk embroidery order. Man pays off debts, saves the shop, and becomes an admired resilient example in town.
