Guqin musician Lu Mingxuan missed his engagement with Nanyin inheritor Su Qingyan five years ago due to a family dispute. Five years later, Su, striving to win the hosting right for the Nanyin intangible cultural heritage (ICH) performance, brings the rare ancient score *A New Promise* and meets Lu who comes to help during rehearsal. The past misunderstanding lingers, and the authenticity of the score is suspicious. While untangling knots with Nanyin's melodies, they get involved in malicious competition over the ICH project.
