Drug enforcement officer Xu Xiao infiltrates the "Abyss" drug cartel undercover to investigate his comrade's death, only to reunite with his ex-lover Zhao Yingnan—who turns out to be the cartel's core member "Rose". Amid the collision of faith and love, Xu Xiao discovers Zhao's "fall" is due to her brother being kidnapped. As they test each other while unearthing the cartel's保护伞 (protective umbrella, i.e., corrupt officials), they shockingly learn the comrade's death is linked to Xu's father, and Zhao's brother may have long been dead... When the abyss stares back, can they tear through the darkness?
