In a 1970s mountain village, He Lingyao wakes up to catch her scumbag fiancé and his sister plotting to steal her dowry. Traumatized by her past life where she was sold to the mountains, she grabs a broom, chases them out, and shouts, "I'm calling off the marriage!" Right after dumping the scumbag, she crashes into Xu Yanghao, a returning army captain. He shields her from the scumbag's harassment and hands her a meal ticket from the army canteen: "Comrade He, let's get you something hot to eat." With the scumbag family retaliating and the tough captain eyeing her warmly, He Lingyao clutches the ticket and smiles: This time, she'll dump scumbags, build her life, and hold onto the soldier's heart!
