In the early Republic of China, Shen Wantang, heir to a Su embroidery family, infiltrates warlord Gu Jingchuan's mansion as an embroideress under an alias to uncover the truth behind her father's murder—linked to their family's heirloom qipao. She plans to get close to Gu by repairing the qipao with a misplaced "twin lotus" design, only to find he holds a letter tied to her father's death. They test each other with hidden agendas, but gradually fall for each other amid the stitching.
