Lin Wan, a photography blogger, ventures to Thousand Hills to find the "Firefly Manuscript" her grandmother mentioned before passing away, only to accidentally enter the千年 firefly valley guarded by forest ranger Gu Shen. Gu Shen is highly wary of her, but she discovers photos of her young grandmother in his old notebook. As they’re forced to team up against developers threatening the valley, those firefly-lit nights reveal her grandmother’s untold past, Gu Shen’s decade-long secret, and the growing affection between them—from rivalry to tender warmth—all slowly emerging like the fireflies themselves.
