A mysterious plague breaks out in a city, leaving patients with persistent high fever and total amnesia, throwing the whole city into panic with no effective medical treatments available. Folklore says the plague source lies in a cursed abandoned deep well on the outskirts; anyone approaching it either dies or goes mad, making it a forbidden zone no one dares to touch. Lin Xiaoman, a stubborn ordinary nurse, ignores dissuasions from neighbors and colleagues and insists on exploring the well, only to uncover a long-buried past and a hidden conspiracy behind the strange plague.
