In the Three Realms, there is an "Account Keeper of the Three Realms" who settles muddled accounts for immortals, demons, humans and ghosts. Seemingly a free-spirited drifter, the protagonist falls into a millennium-old love debt dispute: a Underworld ghost messenger mistakenly cleared the debt between a mortal scholar and a celestial fairy, leading to the scholar's early death and the fairy losing her immortal power. To fix the mess, the Keeper dares to confront tricky immortals, ventures into the mortal world to investigate, and accidentally finds she is a remnant soul of the ancient Account Department. The Three Realms' stability now hinges on settling this long-avoided muddled account.
