Gu Xingyao (played by Xu Feng), a star official exiled to the mortal world, breaks into Tangxi Town to find the "Evening Crabapple Core" that can repair the Star River. He mistakenly accuses Meng Wantang (played by Gong Fangni), an orphan guarding the century-old evening crabapple forest, of stealing the core. From being at odds to working together, they uncover the truth: years ago, Gu Xingyao took Wantang's spiritual consciousness (when she was a crabapple spirit) to save the Star River, turning it into the core. Now, to fix the Star River, Wantang must perish. Between the fate of the world and his beloved, what choice will Gu Xingyao make?
