A modern archaeologist touches a mysterious bronze gate engraved with runes while exploring an ancient tomb, and accidentally travels between two dynasties: the prosperous Tang Dynasty and the turbulent late Ming Dynasty. In the Tang Dynasty, he meets a female official with family secrets and helps her avoid court disputes; in the late Ming Dynasty, he finds that his existence is the key to the bronze gate's fatal cycle, and every crossing will devour his loved ones. To break the curse and protect both dynasties, he struggles with forces in the cracks of time, searches for the bronze gate's secret in cross-century love and hate, and fights to survive in the trap of fate.
