Shen Zhaozhao, the legitimate daughter of a noble family, has been trapped within crimson walls since childhood, acting as the family’s “perfect pawn” by strict rules. On the eve of her coming-of-age ceremony, she meets Gu Ye, a reckless young swordsman from the Jianghu—this man, who climbed over the wall to steal wine, brings the wind and light from outside, igniting her repressed desires for twenty years. But soon after, her family betroths her to the Crown Prince. Caught between a lifetime of imprisonment in the red-walled palace and the freedom and love she craves with Gu Ye, Shen Zhaozhao clutches the silver sword Gu Ye left behind and makes a decision on the night before her wedding: either break through the walls and flee, or die chasing the light.
