Investment banking elite Lin Wan is tricked by her mother into returning to the old alley to handle her grandmother's shabby noodle shop, only to encounter Chen Mo, a rough man who has guarded the shop for ten years—he clutches a handwritten note from her grandmother and refuses to let her sell it. One thinks the "worldly warmth" lowers her lifestyle, the other treats the "old flavor" as his life. From fighting over keys to smashing bowls, they are bitter enemies. But when Lin Wan squats by the stove, watching Chen Mo boil the same pork bone soup as her grandmother used to; when Chen Mo finds her elementary school drawings hidden by grandma, saying "Grandma was afraid you'd forget how to cry in the office building," her "elite shell" slowly melts. Until the demolition notice is posted, Lin Wan finally shouts to Chen Mo, who is kneading dough: "I won't sell it! Because... I want to turn grandma's noodles into our home—with you."
