Lin Xiaochuan, the loyal young leader of a bandit gang, infiltrates the imperial exam under the alias "Lin Yan" to clear his late chief's name of treason. Illiterate, he relies on his brothers' pigeon-delivered cheat sheets—only to accidentally win first place! On the day he meets the emperor, he's shocked to find the crown prince is the "weak scholar" he once robbed of silver. Worse still, the emperor wants to marry him to the princess. Caught between avenging his chief, hiding his bandit identity, and the prince's subtle revenge, how will this "bandit top scholar" keep his lies from falling apart?
