Maid Su Wanqing enters the palace after saving Emperor Li Heng, who was incognito. Raised in power struggles, Li Heng is convinced she's after the throne and tests her repeatedly—ignoring her, setting traps for her to "steal" the imperial seal. But Wanqing does the opposite: sending osmanthus candy when ignored, taking an assassin's hit for him during a trap. When Wanqing is framed for treason and Li Heng orders her execution, she smiles and says, "I never wanted the throne. I wanted the Li Heng who saved me plum cakes." Li Heng suddenly realizes he's long lost his heart in the tests—turns out, the one worth being "after" is him, not his power.
