Su Wanning, a noble lady from a prominent family, dies unexpectedly and becomes a ghost visible only to Gu Zhaonian, a young master who has been reborn. In his previous life, Gu Zhaonian died protecting Su Wanning, and he swore to rewrite their tragic ending—only to catch her crouching on his desk munching osmanthus cakes. One is determined to 'make amends for past regrets,' while the other is desperate to 'not drag him down again.' Forced to team up, Gu Zhaonian helps Su Wanning uncover the truth behind her death, and Su Wanning stops Gu Zhaonian from repeating past mistakes. Past misunderstandings are humorously resolved (e.g., Gu Zhaonian once thought Su Wanning despised his poverty, but she was secretly saving money to buy him a sword), and their 'post-death cohabitation' is filled with laughs (Su Wanning floats while checking accounts, nearly spilling Gu Zhaonian’s tea). As the family conspiracy behind Su Wanning’s death emerges, they protect each other through laughter and rekindle the love that was cut short in their previous life.
