Xu Anning, a resident of an old building, has spent years using her private balcony to shield the entire structure from rain and tend to public greenery, silently guarding her neighbors. Yet, she faces collective coercion from ungrateful neighbors to demolish the balcony. Enraged, Xu Anning devises a plan: she delays the demolition and gathers everyone in the building during a thunderstorm. The heavy rain washes away wall stains and exposes rooftop hazards, while also uncovering neighbors’ long-standing irresponsibility and selfishness—some embezzled maintenance funds, others concealed property risks. Finally, the truth comes to light; the whole building reaches reconciliation while rebuilding the balcony, ushering in their rain-nourished new life.
