Lin Xiaoman, owner of a vintage store, has her midsummer disrupted by Gu Chuan—a man in a white shirt—who rummages through her shelves searching for a notebook titled "End-of-Summer Promise," a relic her late grandma kept locked in a trunk. As ginkgo leaves and faded boat tickets from the notebook surface, Xiaoman learns Gu Chuan is the homeless boy her grandma saved during a typhoon twenty years ago. The "search" is actually a decades-old vow: little Gu Chuan once promised to bring the sweetest watermelon to his savior, and now he’s back with a truckload of watermelons and a crush hidden for twenty years—ready to give that heart to Xiaoman, the grown-up girl he’s never forgotten.
