In 2024, Lin Xiaoman, a rising illustrator, accidentally unlocks a vintage cassette recorder made in 1982 while tidying up her old house. Pressing play, she hears a voice from a teenager in the same city forty-two years ago—Lu Xingye, a talented boy who imitated others to sell paintings to raise money for his sick mother. A bond across time and space grows quietly, but as their connection deepens, Lin Xiaoman finds that Lu Xingye’s “disappearance” is tied to her grandfather’s undeciphered painting secret.
