Retired perfumer Lin Wanzhao guards "Gui Xiang Tang" in the old alley and never makes perfume for outsiders—until young Shen Shizhou arrives with a half-burnt perfume recipe: a relic of his mother Su Heng, the once-revered "Muse of the Perfume World" who disappeared a decade ago. Shen says his mother murmured "the scent of longing is silent" before dying and insisted on finding Lin. Lin tries to turn him away but catches a whiff of Su's familiar scent in Shen's "Lime & Cedar"—the "unspoken goodbye" they brewed together at twenty.
