Su Wan, daughter of a pharmacy owner in Suzhou during the Republic of China, lost her father to a false charge of “colluding with bandits”. While searching her old house, she accidentally unsealed Gu Zhao, a ghost immortal who was a marshal’s son framed to death. To clear her father’s name, they made a pact: Su Wan would sacrifice her lifespan to help Gu Zhao restore his soul, and Gu Zhao would help her uncover the truth. But as they dig deeper, they uncover a dark opium smuggling ring run by warlords—her father’s “crime” was a cover-up for his murder, and Gu Zhao’s death is also linked to it. As Su Wan’s lifespan dwindles and Gu Zhao’s soul weakens, they must fight the hidden enemies while facing their fatal fate: choose the truth, or save each other’s last chance at life?
