Documentary director Lin Chuan keeps dreaming of his high school deskmate Su Xiao—she holds a starry notebook and says, "I'll wait for you at the end of memories," before vanishing. To ease his心结, he returns to his alma mater for filming, only to find Su Xiao's notebook in a storage room locked for ten years: back then, she had a genetic disease and feared burdening him, so she faked her "disappearance," with her last wish being to watch the starry time-lapse they shot together. Lin Chuan digs out an old hard drive and finds a secret clip from Su Xiao—she smiles and says, "I waited for you at the end of memories to make you move forward." When the starry sky lights up on the screen, Lin Chuan finally understands: the end of memories is never a finish line, but the courage to keep loving despite regrets.
