Lin Shen, the last young coffin bearer in Qingchuan Town who upholds the ancestral rule of 'no coffin touching the ground', is insulted by wealthy Mr. Wu for refusing to change to a 'feng shui route' for his mother's funeral. Unexpectedly, when the coffin reaches the original route, it is blocked by an old locust tree planted by Lin Shen's late master—and even more terrifying, the sound of the copper bell Lin wore when he got lost as a child comes from inside the coffin. When Lin pries open the coffin, instead of Mrs. Wu, he finds the remains of his master (who died saving him from a mudslide years ago) and a suicide note that reads, 'Take good care of Qingchuan for me'. At this moment, Mr. Wu suddenly kneels down and sobs: his mother confessed on her deathbed that it was the master who saved her life, so they must take this 'road of gratitude'...
