Chaos engulfs the Great Ning Dynasty—Emperor Shen Mo hides in the Imperial Study painting peonies, powerful minister Gu Yuan controls six ministries, and Concubine Su poisons other concubines to fight for the crown prince position. Just then, Grand Empress Dowager Jiang Ning, who has retired for twenty years, returns to the palace with her former secret guards, the "Iron Cloth Guard"! She kicks open the door of the Imperial Study, throws the emperor's scroll out the window: "The late emperor told you to guard the country, not to be a painter!" She slaps Gu Yuan's power-grabbing memorial in his face: "You're an assistant, not a regent!" She even smashes Concubine Su's fertility drug: "If you want to be queen, first learn to be a mother!" But the truth is: Shen Mo fears Gu Yuan because he was kidnapped by Gu Yuan's enemies as a child, Gu Yuan grabs power to protect the emperor from plots, and Concubine Su poisons others out of desperation for a child... These "unfilial descendants" are all quietly protecting the country. Jiang Ning's return is because the late emperor's death is suspicious—someone wants to overthrow Great Ning. What she aims to do is not scold them awake, but teach them: the real way to guard the country is to stand together in the storm.
