Lin Xiaoman, a cultural relic restorer, accidentally finds her grandfather's old treasure-hunting diary, which records a "jade Buddha head" from a Qing Dynasty chieftain hidden in an ancient village in the southwest mountains—her grandfather went missing 20 years ago while searching for it. To solve the mystery of his disappearance, she drags her childhood friend Chen Mo, a former outdoor guide, into the mountains. However, the village is long abandoned, with only ritual murals on the walls and eerie copper bells ringing at night—there are always "figures" in coarse clothes patrolling.
