Lin Xiaoman, an antique restorer, keeps a broken cloisonné hairpin—one she dares not fix. It was a spring night at 17: Cheng Ye, her neighbor, spent a month’s allowance to buy it for her, but she hid behind a tree out of inferiority, watching him wait in the rain for half an hour without daring to approach. Ten years later, Cheng Ye returns as an auction house director, and the “Spring Star Hairpin” he’s auctioning is an exact replica of that old one. Lin Xiaoman panics: what she’s hiding isn’t just the broken pin, but her unconfessed love. Yet when Cheng Ye holds the replica and asks, “Why did you run that night?”, she learns his heavier secret—he saw her behind the tree, and for a decade, he’s been searching for the girl who “hid from her star.”
