In the misty riverside town of Jiangnan, Lin Wan tends her family’s ancestral ferry, bound by two unyielding rules: only ferry ordinary villagers, and never carry the wealthy, powerful or those who have betrayed others. Ten years ago, her wealthy father abandoned her and her ailing mother to build a new life elsewhere. Now broken and desperate, he returns with his terminally ill young son, begging Lin Wan to take them across the river to a remote mountain herbal healing hut. Torn between a decade of pent-up rage and the sight of a dying child she cannot ignore, Lin Wan hesitates at the helm as the evening wind sweeps through the old dock. Her ferry will soon carry not just passengers, but a reckoning ten years in the making.
