Senior college student Lin Xiao, rushing home for the Spring Festival, ignored her boyfriend and parents’ warnings not to take an unlicensed taxi, and got on a strange driver’s car for a cheaper fare. On the way, the driver took a long detour frequently and glanced at her bag repeatedly. When Lin Xiao tried to contact her family, she found no signal. She escaped by pretending to buy water, but accidentally saw the driver meeting suspicious men and trying to sell passenger information. She fled in panic and met a traffic police on patrol, learning the driver was a wanted telecom fraudster—a crisis that taught her a lesson for not listening to advice.
