Lin Xiao, a young man returning to his hometown after being laid off in the city, decides to revitalize the long-idle wasteland in the village despite his uncle's doubts and neighbors' mockery. He invests all his savings in growing off-season special fruits and vegetables, overcomes successive difficulties like pests and water shortages with agricultural technicians' guidance and the secret help of A Mei, the village girl with a crush on him. Eventually, he turns the weedy wasteland into a standardized fruit and vegetable industrial park, boosts employment for left-behind villagers, reunites the scattered village, and achieves his counterattack from a down-and-out youth to a rural wealth leader.
