Maixiang, a girl from Maixiang Village in Jiangnan, grew up with her grandpa who guarded the wheat threshing ground. The rich aroma of wheat on that old field is the whole village's treasure. However, the town plans to turn it into a commercial park. Maixiang steps forward to protect the heritage, but is questioned by her childhood friend Lin Hao who works in a big city—he thinks sticking to tradition is less profitable than reconstruction. Between her grandpa's last wish, the whole village's livelihood, Lin Hao's misunderstanding and market temptation, Maixiang struggles in the wheat fields and threshing ground. Finally, she creates a new rural revitalization path with the ancient 'Maixiang Festival', resolves the misunderstanding with Lin Hao, and makes the wheat aroma spread further.
