Inside the vermilion-walled deep palace, a scheme using human lives as chess pieces quietly unfolds. Su Ning, a lowly maid selected into the palace, only wanted to survive initially but got caught in the vortex of concubines' power struggle because of an old jade pendant from her family. She advances carefully and investigates the truth of her father's frame-up in secret, only to find that the eunuch she trusts the most, even Consort Shu who has been helping her, are hidden threads on the chessboard. Every risky attempt may bring death; every step closer to the truth pushes her deeper into crisis. When she thinks she can bring down her rivals, she is shocked to realize that she's been a dark pawn used by others to eliminate dissidents from the start——who will win this court struggle?
