In the old alley of 1987, Lin Wan—reborn and focused on making money through stalls and foreign trade sweaters—accidentally catches the eye of Lu Jingchuan, the arrogant son of the town’s richest man. How dare this girl in a dacron shirt ignore his Hongqi car? Convinced she’s "playing hard to get," Lu Jingchuan declares, "I’ll work for you for 30 yuan a month" to expose her "scheme." But as he helps with goods and stalls, he sees her dedication counting accounts under streetlights and kindness giving congee to homeless elders—she’s not "fishing"; she’s fighting to survive. When Lu starts secretly sourcing supplies and shielding her from drinking parties, he realizes he’s been outsmarted: he came to unmask her, but now he dotes on her like a pearl. The proud tsundere’s self-delusion begins: "She’s just afraid I’ll get complacent—that’s why she won’t admit she likes me!"
